Smartphones have become a staple item for much of the world, much like shoes or underwear are. In fact, there are currently around 6.6 million smartphone users across the globe and that number is only expected to rise further in years to come.
First brought out in Britain in 1985, the mobile phone has developed rapidly into the clever smartphone it is today whilst maintaining its core values of being a device used to communicate with those not in close proximity.
These developments are not likely to slow down either and in the near future, we can expect tech developments to take smartphone capabilities to a whole new level making them even better and easier to use.
Read on to find out some of the smartphone tech developments that you can expect to see in the near future.
Screen improvements
Screen and resolution changes are almost expected with each new release from big name brands such as Apple and Samsung and whilst the future enhancements in this area will be breathtaking, it is not this innovation that will grab the headlines.
In the future, you can expect to see folding touchscreen phones that have an incredibly high resolution. This means that you can fold your phone up for easier storage then pull it out and experience the same great phone you’ve become accustomed to.
Charging
One of the few limitations to smartphones is that they always eventually need charging no matter how good battery life gets. Restricting how long the charging takes, however, is where the true tech advancements lie.
In modern phones, charging speeds are pretty quick as there are many USB types used within the charging technology allowing for faster-charging speeds. The USB C is the current fastest thanks to their high voltage and current use. In the future, we may no longer see these wires though and instead, wireless charging will become the norm and will match the speeds of the current fastest USB cables.
Smartphones are already a reliable device that holds an important place in modern society but as you can see, with these advancements anything is possible. This is a very exciting time for smartphone fanatics and these developments are only going to get better as time goes on.
Connectivity
What’s a smartphone without connectivity? These devices rely on WiFi or mobile data to function but we still can’t get total connectivity with the fastest speeds at all times. With the addition of 5G, these speeds and connectivity issues have improved but it won’t stop there.
Early talks of 6G have started which each new phone in the future will automatically use. This will allow the internet to load faster and in more locations meaning you never feel disconnected.

I love tech and gaming, and am always looking for the ‘next big thing’…
