Tile has just released new models of the popular Tile Mate and Tile Pro. The new versions feature longer range, louder volumes, and replaceable batteries.
In further expansions to their finding solutions, the company revealed Tile Premium, a suite of offerings including free battery replacements, smart alerts, 30-day location history, and other exclusive services.
How does Tile tracking work?
Tile provide simple and affordable tracking tags that you can attach to every day items you can lose such as keys, wallet, bags and even cars and bicycles. You can track a Tile using and App on your phone, and you can locate it directly if its within Bluetooth range (150-300ft) or if it goes further afield you can utilise a crowd mesh of other Tile owners whose App will notify you if your Tile tag appears within their smartphone range. Your App on your phone also acts as part of this mesh – a term dubbed Crowd GPS.
What do the new Tile Mate and Tile Pro models bring?
These updates resolve one of the biggest complaints about the Tile products, that once the battery was dead you had to buy a new one! The new Tile Pro has a replaceable CR2032 battery, with a range of 300ft and the new Tile Mate has a replaceable CR1632 battery with a range of 150ft. The Pro is slightly bigger in all dimensions than the Mate, weighs just over double the weight at 15.5g (versus 7g) but has a much louder audible alert when triggered. Both the new models boost the Bluetooth signal strength improving the tag range over the previous models.
